History

Founded on the cardinal principles of Virtue, Diligence, and Brotherly Love by a group of men who sought more than just a diploma, Sigma Phi Epsilon first appeared at Richmond College (Richmond, VA) in 1901. Since its inception, SigEp has prided itself on being the leading fraternities nationally. With over 260,000 members and over 260 Chapters on campuses this year, Sigma Phi Epsilon is the largest and strongest growing fraternity in the country. This feat is made even more incredible by the fact that SigEp is 40-50 years younger than other large fraternities.

Sigma Phi Epsilon was originally founded at CU in 1904 as the tenth SigEp Chapter in the nation and the first west of the Mississippi River. The Chapter was dormant from 1994 until the Spring Semester of 2001. Since returning to campus, SigEp has been on the rise in academics, manpower, philanthropy, and athletic performance every year.

From its founding onward, Sigma Phi Epsilon has had a long standing tradition & identity as the fraternity that would be different. As a new fraternity on campus at CU, we must strive to be different, different from the typical "frat" image. This quality has been directly associated with The Balanced Man Ideal.
